Heather Strain
Heather was born in Tampa, Florida and moved to Vermont when she was almost five.
She worked in fast food and retail with her first job being at Taco Bell/KFC. She was employed at Walmart, Kmart, JBM and a couple of different pizza places. She also has done housekeeping at a hotel.
Heather started at Seall in 2020 in the midst of Covid. There were not many companies open at that time and Seall was. She did not know how much she would like it.
We asked Heather, “What she does for hobbies? “I have a whole world to see so I love travelling. My son is my favorite adventure buddy.” When stuck in Vermont she delves into the arts. Heather loves to paint, read and do kayaking and spending quality time with her loved ones.
“How do you keep a positive attitude?” “It is important to me to stay positive and remind myself these are all good kids. They have just been dealt a bad hand at life. I can relate to them because life is not easy. It is rewarding to be a person they can rely on. I look forward to being the person I always needed at their age.”
Heather recently switched to third shift for a small while. She says, “It’s always most rewarding to see repeat residents and how their character has developed over the years and how far they have come.” “It’s always a bubbly feeling when they remember me as a role model who was there for them.”
“What advice would you give to a new hire?” “Be comfortable being uncomfortable. These kids will do and say anything to get under your skin. You can’t let them know what works. You need to be a dependable grown up.
